Interns Return From Haiti

Three times a year interns from Convoy of Hope traverse the globe helping people in need. Recently, Convoy of Hope’s summer interns returned from Haiti where they distributed and installed nearly 700 water purification units, worked in Convoy of Hope’s warehouse just outside Port-au-Prince and served in several orphanages.

“I learned to love without an agenda,” says intern Chelsea Hite, 24. “I liked the internship experience so much that I am coming back in the Fall to do another one.”

Watch Chelsea tell her story:

As part of their internship the summer interns also received training at Convoy of Hope’s World Distribution Center in Springfield, Mo., and spent a week in New Orleans reaching out to families — who are still reeling from Hurricane Katrina and now the oil spill — by distributing food and encouraging them.

This fall, another group of interns will receive training before working in Philadelphia and Kenya.

“There are spots still open for those who are interested in doing an internship in spring 2011,” says Matt Wilkie, internship director. “Part of the internship will take place in the Philippines. It will be a life changing experience for those who are looking to help those in need and make a difference in the world.”
